Description
Hop on the bike with the Kaneda Bike Decals Akira Mid Top Basketball Shoes. Candy apple red panels are covered with racing style stickers, patches and a star and stripe flag, a nod to the decals on the motorcycle that Kaneda rides through Neo-Tokyo.
About Kaneda and Akira
Akira is the 1988 animated film by Katsuhiro Otomo that set a new standard for anime. Shotaro Kaneda is the leader of a biker gang in Neo-Tokyo, a city rebuilt after a catastrophic explosion. When his friend Tetsuo gains frightening powers, Kaneda races to stop him. The red motorcycle with its slide stopping drift is one of the most imitated images in animation, and Kaneda’s red jacket is a fan favorite.
Design Highlights
- Decal collage: small badges, lettering and stickers give the pair a racing garage look.
- Bike red: a glossy red upper matches the classic motorcycle color.
- Build: a padded high cuff, secure laces and a bright white sole.
Where to Wear Them
These look great with black jeans, a white tee or a leather style jacket. Wear them to conventions, car meets, concerts and everyday outings.
The busy sticker pattern gives the pair a handmade feel, as if someone customized each shoe in a garage.
The shoes feel like a collectible from a garage sale in Neo-Tokyo, which gives them a fun retro charm. They make a great gift for fans of classic sci fi, for a birthday, Father’s Day or Christmas.
Fans of cyberpunk style will appreciate how bold and vintage the pair looks.
Size Chart
It is essential to carefully review the size chart, as returns or exchanges will not be accepted for incorrect sizing.
