RX-78 Gundam Knitted Cardigan Sweater

Power up in the RX-78 Gundam Knitted Cardigan Sweater. The white sleeves and body copy the mobile suit’s armor, while the chest is blocked with a blue upper section, a red center and two yellow vents. Orange shoulder pads, gold V shaped marks and a tidy button line down the center complete the look. The back keeps the dark backpack shape and the red torso.

The First Mobile Suit

The RX-78-2 Gundam appeared in the 1979 series Mobile Suit Gundam, created by Yoshiyuki Tomino. Amuro Ray, a young civilian, ends up piloting it against the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War. Its beam saber, shield and bazooka started a whole genre of real robot anime, and the white, blue, red and yellow color scheme is among the most recognized in Japan.

Model kit builders love it too, since the Gunpla version of this suit is one of the best selling plastic kits ever made.

Design Details

• Classic color blocks: blue, red, yellow and white sit exactly where fans expect them.
• V fin accents: gold marks near the sides hint at the famous head crest.
• Backpack panel: the rear shows the dark thruster pack above the red body.
• Easy layer: open it over a tee for a casual mecha look.

Where to Wear It

Wear it to a Gunpla build event, a robot anime marathon, a convention or a casual day out. White pants and gray sneakers make a nice matching set.

It is a great gift for a mecha fan or model builder. Give it for a birthday, a Christmas present or a graduation celebration.
