RX-78 Mobile Suit Gundam Versatile Shorts

Styled like a mobile suit, the RX-78 Mobile Suit Gundam Versatile Shorts are white with panel lines that mimic armor plating, a blue and red waist, and a pair of large yellow hexagonal plates on the front hips. The hexagon plates and the thin line details continue around the back.

About the RX-78 Gundam

The RX-78-2 Gundam is the original hero mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam, the 1979 series created by Yoshiyuki Tomino. Amuro Ray, a teenage boy, climbs into the machine during an attack on a space colony and becomes the pilot who changes the war between the Earth Federation and Zeon. Its white, blue, red and yellow color scheme has been copied by countless models, and the series helped create the whole mecha genre.

Design Highlights

• Armor panel lines: thin black lines follow the pieces of the suit like a model kit.
• Yellow hip plates: two large shapes that call out the mobile suit’s skirt armor.
• Tricolor waist: blue and red bands finish the classic palette.
• Practical details: side pockets and an elastic waist.

Where to Wear Them

They suit a hobby store trip, a model kit session, a gym workout or a convention. A navy tee echoes the chest armor, and a red one carries the palette upward. For a larger cosplay, add a V shaped headband.

They make a great gift for a Gundam fan who assembles kits, a good fit for a birthday, a holiday present or a thank you to a friend who spent hours on one.
