Description
Slide into Neo-Tokyo with the Kaneda Title Logo Akira Mid Top Basketball Shoes. Bright red uppers carry the film title in bold Japanese lettering on the side, with small decals, a red capsule shaped pill logo and Kaneda drawn near the heel.
About the Akira Title and Kaneda
The title of Akira is written in three katakana characters, which are drawn in a blocky style on posters and merchandise. The film follows Kaneda and his gang through a violent, neon lit Neo-Tokyo, where a secret government project awakens psychic powers. Kaneda’s capsule jacket, with its red pill logo on the back, and his slide stopping bike have become icons of the cyberpunk look that inspired many later stories.
Design Highlights
- Title lettering: large katakana characters on the side show off the classic film logo.
- Pill emblem: a small red and white capsule near the ankle nods to his jacket.
- Court structure: a cushioned ankle, tidy laces and a clean white outsole.
Where to Wear Them
Pair them with black pants, a denim jacket or a plain white tee. They fit conventions, concerts, skate trips and casual days.
The bold red is eye catching, and the simple lettering keeps the look cleaner than a full decal collage.
They make a great gift for a fan of classic anime, for a birthday or Christmas, and they pair nicely with a red jacket.
Collectors of vintage anime posters will also like how the lettering looks like it was lifted from an old movie theater banner. Fans of the film will also enjoy the nostalgic mood.
Size Chart
It is essential to carefully review the size chart, as returns or exchanges will not be accepted for incorrect sizing.
