About Wizard Howl

Howl is the dazzling, dramatic wizard in Howl’s Moving Castle, the Studio Ghibli film directed by Hayao Miyazaki. He lives in a walking castle powered by the fire demon Calcifer, charms every town he visits and hides his fear behind elaborate spells. When young Sophie is cursed into an old woman, she moves into his home and discovers his kind heart. Fans love his vanity, his courage and the romance of the sky lit scenes.

Details to Notice

• Flame artwork: orange and gold fire licks the side panel with a cinematic feel.
• Diamond pattern: a gray and pink collar print echoes his patterned jacket.
• Yellow laces: a cheerful pop against the red upper.
• Cushioned high top: a padded ankle collar and a supportive white sole.

Wearing Them

Red shoes want simple clothes: try black jeans and a cream sweater, or gray joggers and a white tee. They suit a Ghibli movie night, a bookstore trip, a spring picnic or a day out when you want something romantic.

It is a lovely gift for a Ghibli fan who dreams of floating above the clouds. Give them for a birthday, an anniversary or a winter holiday present. The bright red also suits fall and winter, when cozy knits and long coats call for a warm accent.
